Key Coaching and Tournament dates for 2025/26

These coaching classes are run by Knights & Bytes and the tournaments are either run by the SA Junior Chess League or the SA Chess Association Inc.

We currently offer coaching via Zoom on Saturday mornings for Juniors at either 8:30 am or 9:30 am and the sessions usually go for 60 minutes – puzzles, games and ideas!

And for Adults we have Zoom sessions on Monday evenings from 7pm-8pm – the cost per session is $15.

On Sunday mornings we run our Rookies morning sessions at the Chess Centre for juniors – it starts at 10am and finishes at noon and involves lessons and games – the cost is $15 per morning or $20 for 2 children – and these generally run through the school term with a break in the holidays and on public holidays.

The Junior Coaching classes are held on the first Thursday and Friday of the public schools’ holidays at the end of terms 1, 2 and 3.

Friday 26th December – Lidums Australian Allegro Championship – this is one of the premier events of the year in SA – it is held at the Glenelg Community Centre and goes from 12 noon til about 5:30pm – please check sachess.org.au for more etails

The bookings will also all be through the TryBooking system and that way we can notify the participants of any changes. However, players and participants will generally still be accepted if they turn up on the day of the event.

Please note that a player’s age is considered that person’s age on the first day of the tournaments in SA – the national events are different -the age is determined on the 1st day of the year.

The Tournaments are held on the last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the second week of the holidays.  The Girls Only Tournaments are held on the Wednesdays of the first week of each term break with the tournament in July being considered the State Girls titles.
