The January Jamboree  tournaments are a new innovation by the SA Chess Association to see if chess will be popular on Sunday afternoons at the Chess Centre – and it certainly appears to be!

The first Sunday, 10th January, attracted 38 players on a super-hot day so it is very promising.

Today is the last for January .. but probably many more ..

4 or 5 rounds (15 mins + 2 secs)

FOUR TOURNAMENTS WILL BE RUN CONCURRENTLY EACH SUNDAY, but this may change slightly depending on the numbers – the first afternoon saw the Open and Returnees combined and the Beginners and Juniors combined – it all worked out great!

• RETURNEES: someone taught you the moves years ago, maybe you played at school, but you can’t remember the last time you touched a piece. This should be the interesting one!
